Lakeside Cooking Favorites

Cookbook update!

Thank you all for contributions to the project. We have reached goal and the maximum recipes for our book. Watch this site for release information this summer.

I hope you've all seen out previous postings and emails about the "Little Sebago Lakeside Favorites Cookbook". This fun project was to give the LSLadies Club something to occupy the winter months while raising funds for a most worthy cause. Our Goal is to use the proceeds tor present Little Sebago Lake Association with a generous check. The Lake Association will use our support to contribute to funding any of the many programs that most of us don't even realize are happening, but are essential in maintaining our lake and water quality. Some of the programs include: managing the Hopkins Dam, Milfoil removal, Safety Patrol Program, reclaiming the Lower Narrows, Courtesy Boat Inspection at the Boat Ramp, Loon Preservation, Water Quality Testing, Watershed & Erosion Control.

Can you even imagine one small volunteer group doing all that?

When we started the LSLadies Club last summer our sole objective was to build friendships and promote fellowship among our lake community, and we certainly did - with weekly gatherings up to 29 strong. After the summer ended and many of our new friends returned to their winter homes, a somewhat smaller but steadfast group of ladies continued to meet monthly. During one of those fall monthly gatherings the Lakeside Favorites Cookbook idea was hatched, and then the idea to dedicate proceeds to the Lake Association.

So our simple fun continues with purpose! To date we have gathered 92 recipes from 32 contributors. We are still looking forward to being able to present you with a book of at least 200 recipes from family and friends around the lake. But time is running out. So if you haven't already send us your favorite lakeside recipes, please do so quickly. If you've already send some in, thank you, but can you now reach out to a neighbor or family on the lake that may not have heard about our project? We can accept up to 4 recipes per named contributor. This doesn't have to be an original recipe, just something that frequently graces your table or is a family favorite.

We can't wait to present Lakeside Cooking Favorites this summer. Personally, I'm intrigued by comparing Holly's Tourtiere Pie recipe to my generation old one, and I'm dying to try Pam's Black Bean & Butternut Squash Enchilada Casserole. Oh, and then for something sweet, there's Sharon's Chocolate Kahlua Brownie Truffles, and Emily's Blueberry Bitch. Making me hungry just writing about the yummies!

Join in the fun folks - send us your favorites. How about some BBQ favorites - this is for the guys too - where are our barbeque masters?
