Lake Arrowhead Milfoil |
|
Sent to LSLA by Mike Fitzpatrick President - LACC:
The Lake Arrowhead Conservation Council is extremely proud to announce the launching and successful testing of our first Milfoil Suction Harvester. Yet, to be named, the harvester is 28 ft long and has a new design concept which removes the trough system and onion bags. The capture system is metal screened large baskets which receive the milfoil and water output from the suction system. By installing an all aluminum decking material with appropriate spacing, water simply drains back into the lake while fragments and milfoil are captured in the large screened metal baskets. The baskets (s) are removed via a boom vehicle at the shoreline and loaded onto a dump truck to be hauled off to a LAC composting pile located a couple of miles from the lake.
The harvester will be on display at LACCʼs first annual meeting this Saturday for our members and local Waterboro and Limerick officials. Currently, boat Captain, Dave Sanfason, is putting together a schedule to begin work with divers over the next few weeks.
We at LACC would like to extend our thanks to the Maine DEP, LEA, Little Sebago Lake Association, COLA, Maine VLMP and West Pond Lake Association for all of your help and guidance through this summer long process.
